Shirdi is located in the district of Ahmednagar in Maharashtra, which is the largest district in the state. It is surrounded by Solapur, Osmanabad, Nashik, Aurangabad, Pune, Thane and Beed districts. The town sees a constant flow of devotees throughout the year and is easily accessible from all major cities in Maharashtra, including Mumbai (266 km), Pune (207 km), Nashik (90 km) and Ahmednagar (83 km), as well as from other parts of the country, via air, road and rail.

The town has its own airport and railway station, as well as good road connectivity. However, the most ideal way to reach Shirdi would be by railways.

Air

If you prefer to travel by air, the nearest airport is Sri Saibaba International Airport at Kakadi, located to the southwest of the town. Train :

If you prefer to travel by train, Sainagar Shirdi Railway Station on the Puntamba Shirdi link connects Shirdi to the Manmad Daund line of the Solapur Division of the Central Railways. There are daily, weekly, and bi-weekly trains to Shirdi from major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Vijayawada, Secunderabad, Chennai, Mysore (via Bengaluru), Tirupathi and New Delhi. The railway station is about 3 km from the Shirdi Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir and Sri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust runs buses from the station to the temple. You can also hire auto-rickshaws, shared jeeps or cabs from the railway station to reach the temple.

Road:

Shirdi is well connected by road and has frequent intrastate and interstate bus services from all parts of Maharashtra as well as from cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Indore. Private and state-owned buses with various facilities such as AC sleepers, seaters, non-AC sleepers or standard buses are available.

Driving to Shirdi from nearby cities like Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad or Nashik is a popular option among devotees. The road from Mumbai through the Eastern Express Highway and Ghoti Sinnar offers beautiful hill-caped roads that are a delight to drive through.

Getting around Shirdi is easy, as it is a small town and most places can be accessed on foot. Taxis can be booked for a tour around the town or you can arrange for a taxi to take you on a tour beyond the outskirts of Shirdi, where there are many places to be visited. Local buses run from Shirdi to neighbouring towns and you can hire auto-rickshaws or share autos to reach your destination or travel around the town.
